The multi channel campaign engaged the five senses to bring the world of the show to life, and “A lot of this work was designed to facilitate the fan culture that was growing around the show and have HBO be a part of that, to have the fans know that HBO respected that ” explains Mike Monello, Campfire Executive Creative Director. After the undoubtable success of the transmedia campaing of the alternate reality game “True Bloods”, the story leads this time the audience in the land of Westeros, location of the epic fantasy series and heart of George R.R. Martin’s story universe. As it happens for recent Discovery Channel “Shark Week”, the campaign imagined by Campfire started with the mailing of carefully crafted scent boxes containing fifteen different scents mailed to a number of bloggers and then moved to web and urban activities. But it’s just the entry point of an amazing, new meta-game adventure…
